60 young people from 13 countries came together to be inspired, get new skills, make new friends and be changed for life. “Global Week helped me to understand myself better and to believe that together we can change the world, “ said Ekaterina Suslove from Russia.

Even before Global Week was over, Ekaterina and the other participants were turning talk into action as they prepared for the launch of Y Global’s Stop Poverty Campaign at TT 2011. At TT they encouraged festival goers to press for policy changes that will favour the poor and they spread the campaign message in fun and creative ways.

Some Global Week participants will join the international caravan for climate justice traveling to Durban, South Africa, in November. Read more here. (In Norwegian).

Global Week participants were optimistic about the role that young people can play in shaping national and international policies for a just world. As Miriro Chakauya from Zimbabwe put it, “We, Generation Y, are the solution to global issues.”

All participants will continue to work for justice in their own local YMCAs / YWCAs. And this is just the beginning.
